Gage (Prunus) ‘Denniston’s Superb’
Pot size: 12 litre.
A self-fertile (so does not need a pollinator), bush variety Greengage with transparent sweet flesh and red flushed skin.
It produces high yields. Pick in late August. A great eating gage.
Grows eventually to 3 metres in height. This variety grows particularly well in the midlands and northern areas of Britain where the climate suits it.
It was first introduced in the United States in the 19th Century and is also known as ‘Imperial Gage’. Prefers a sunny position in a well-drained soil. British-grown.
A bush fruit tree is a freestanding tree. It has a short (between 60-80cms) straight trunk when planted before the initial branches that form a rounded crown eventually. Once planted it will grow from the ends of its branches while the trunk stays the same height.
