Almond (Prunus) ‘Ingrid’
Pot size: 12 litre.
A self-fertile (so does not need a pollinator) bush variety of almond (St Julien A roostock). A reliable cropper with reasonable leaf curl resistance.
Plant in a sunny and sheltered position in a well-drained, deep soil. Pick September. It will grow eventually to 4-5 metres high in roughly10 years.
We all know that nuts are good for you and almonds are known for being one of the healthiest around as they contain high levels of vitamin E and are thought to be associated with lowering cholesterol levels.
This reliable variety is perfect for the British climate and it produces almonds in late August.
It doesn’t produce heavy crops but is an interesting talking point and addition to any suitable garden. Flowers from March to April with pink attractive blossoms. British-grown.
