One, two, three, four…we declare a slug war!

If you’re fighting a battle with slugs this year then here are a few plants to avoid planting in your garden and a few to heartily encourage as the blighters hate them.

Slugs love…

All plants with soft and fleshy tissue – especially new growth.

Bulbs, herbaceous perennials, vegetables, strawberries, climbing plants, young seedlings, in particular:          

  • Hostas
  • Lupins
  • Delphiniums
  • Tulips
Slugs hate… 

Plants with hard textured, hairy or strong flavoured leaves such as:
