What’s top of the pots this summer?

Posted on February 27, 2015 by Potter & Rest

Now more than ever interior design trends are spilling over from the home into the garden. Colour schemes for seasonal summer plants (also known as bedding) have never been so important.

Last year we saw black and white flowering patio plants in all the trendiest pots and hanging baskets nationwide with silver foliage acting as a foil for the blooms.

In 2012 patriotic red, white and blue flowering colour schemes were all the rage to link with the Olympics and the Jubilee celebrations.

Traditional combinations of fiery reds, bright oranges and sunny yellows and purples, lilacs, mauves and pinks never go out of favour.

But for 2015 the industry experts at bedding plant suppliers say fashionable patios will be featuring black and lime flowering petunias or similar plants.

With grey a firm favourite with interior designers this year, also expect to see plenty of silver foliage.

As it’s the year of a general election in Britain could we also (tongue-in-cheek) expect to see planters in single colours – red, blue, yellow and green – or a container coalition with blues and yellows? The options are endless!

We’ll be revealing some of the trends for this summer’s top container planting schemes in a blog tomorrow. Pop back if you’d like to wow your friends and neighbours with your tubs and hanging baskets this year.
