Caerhays Estate to host RHS recommended lecture on creating a woodland garden
Charles Williams of Caerhays Castle and Gardens will be hosting an RHS recommended lecture at Caerhays on Friday, April 10, 2015. The lecture will cover the basics of planting a woodland garden from scratch, to revamping an old overgrown one.
The Caerhays Estate covers more than 120 acres of woodland gardens, which are English Heritage grade two listed. The gardens feature an array of species including Chinese plants, Camellias, Magnolias, Rhododendrons, Acers, Hydrangeas, Podocarpus, Oaks, Evergreen Oaks, Champion Trees and Australasian Plants.
The lecture will include a ‘behind the bushes’ tour that will cover the whole garden and ignore the regular routes that visitors would normally take. It will also tour Old Park which has recently been reopened to the public.
The lecture will take place from 10am until 1pm. Attendees will need to take wet weather clothing and footwear with them for the tours.
