Choosing garden furniture

Posted on July 17, 2014 by Potter & Rest

Gardeners put lots of time and effort into making their patios, borders and lawns look perfect so choosing furniture to complement their handy work is important. Check out our top tips on choosing the best garden furniture.

It’s important to think about how you want your outdoor space to function. Will it be a dining area or a place to relax on warm, summer evenings?

A contemporary outdoor dining table might be just the thing for al fresco dining or opt for a simple bench and coffee table if you want somewhere to relax and read a book.

For sun worshippers a sunbed or steamer chair would be a good option and a small occasional table would come in handy for popping your drinks on.

It’s important to try before you buy. Much like you would when choosing a sofa for your living room, you need to be sure that any furniture you’ll be placing in your garden is just as comfortable. It’s also a good idea to think about storage before filling your garden with furniture. Foldable, easily storable pieces are ideal and can be popped away in garden sheds should the weather take a turn for the worst or during the winter months.

Don’t forget to think about colour when choosing your furniture too. You don’t need to be limited to natural wood tones, why not spice things up a bit with bold splashes of colour, accent pieces and incorporate comfort and style with the use of cushions and blankets.
